Advanced modulation formats combined with digital signal processing and direct detection is a promising way to realize high capacity, low cost and power efficient short reach optical transmission system. In this paper, we have studied and compared several advanced modulation formats in terms of performance and implementation complexity for 100Gb/s/lambda short reach transmission systems.
Rayleigh flat fading channel modeled as a G/HR/1 queue
In this paper we propose a queuing model for predicting behavior of an uncorrelated Rayleigh flat fading channel. Using the notion of Hyperexponential (HE) probability density function, we model a…
A measurement study of mobile video streaming by different types of devices
There is an increasing demand for mobile video streaming. In order to improve the QoE of mobile video streaming, it is important to understand the user interest, user behavior, and…
A framework for the 3-D cloud monitoring based on data stream generation and analysis
Cloud monitoring is one important aspect for effective cloud management. Currently, cloud monitoring solutions can be classified into three groups: the ones not considering multiple layers or real time data…
Two-Stage Regularized Linear Discriminant Analysis for 2-D Data
Fisher linear discriminant analysis (LDA) involves within-class and between-class covariance matrices. For 2-D data such as images, regularized LDA (RLDA) can improve LDA due to the regularized eigenvalues of the…
On the Quality of Implementation of the C++11 Thread Support Library
Providing standardized building blocks for task-parallel programs within a language and its standard library has several advantages over other solutions. Close integration with compilers and runtime systems allows for potentially…
BizMap: A framework for mapping business applications to IT infrastructure
Large enterprises are confronted with an increased need to fully understand the IT systems that support their business applications. Unfortunately, conventional communication trace-based approaches to discovering IT infrastructure dependencies are…
Optical Kerr frequency combs: Towards versatile spectral ranges and applications
Whispering gallery mode (WGM) resonators are particularly interesting platforms for the emerging optical Kerr frequency comb generations, as they are able to feature quality (Q) factors above one billion and…
Fast fully automatic multiframe segmentation of left ventricle in cardiac MRI images using local adaptive k-means clustering and connected component labeling
This paper presents a sub-second fast fully automatic method for segmentation of the left ventricle (LV) from cardiac MRI images, which plays a vital role in the diagnosis of left…
