Broadband radio signal serial channelization by optical scanning method

Broadband instantaneous radio frequency (RF) measurement has always been a hot research topic for its critical application in radar and electronic warfare. With the frequency of the radar goes higher and higher, photonics assisted implementations have been considered as a promising solution for its inherent large bandwidth. A novel RF signal serial channelization scheme called OSCAR is proposed and demonstrated in this talk.

This scheme has two operation modes: burst mode and continuous mode, which can perform fast frequency-scanning and time-scanning operations. Various kinds of broadband RF signal acquisitions are successfully realized within several micro-seconds. Furthermore, this system is promised to extensible measurement range and further improvement in various RF vector measurements applications.
